The course will consist of bateria work, individual instrument technique and rhythms, arrangements, roda de samba and pagode music, learning songs, candomble drumming and more

J P Percussion is closely connected with many top percussionists, mestres de bateria and instrument specialists in the city. You can be assured that the quality of teaching and musicianship delivered will be world class.
Most sessions will have more than one tutor. Some will have whole teams of teachers, mestres and bateria directors. You can expect to regularly be surrounded by incredibly talented and influential people.
Classes will take place in different locations throughout the city.
Dates and times
Classes will take place from Monday to Friday for two weeks with 4 hours of tuition each day. Class start and finish times may vary due to tutor/venue availability.
If you are arriving earlier or leaving later than the course dates then it is your responsibility to make sure that you have booked your own accommodation for that period. We may choose to book one of the apartments for some extra days to allow for this.
Eligibility
This course is aimed at either people who have experience with brazilian percussion or are already musicians, drummers or percussionists.
This is not a course for people who have never played a musical instrument before. If you are unsure about your suitability to register please do get in touch and one of out friendly members of staff will be happy to answer your questions.

If you would like to get in musical shape for the course we will be happy to offer you some classes or help you to find a suitable teacher where you live who can help.
The course is suited to people who already play Brazilian percussion and who learn at a good pace.
It's also suited to other types of experienced musicians, drummers, percussionists, music teachers, composers and performers.
Accommodation
Self catering apartments and homes will be booked. These will be located in the south zone within easy reach of the beaches, public transport, the city centre, music venues and major tourist attractions. Most apartments will be a couple of blocks from the beach. Click here for images of apartments typically used on the course.
There is the option to share or have your own room.
