This beautiful sounding, hand-made agogo or agogô is made from the husk in which Brazil nuts grow.
Its distinctive, rounded sounding and popping tone is suited for many musical situations and soundscape creations.
It's often played in rodas de samba as an alternative to a metal agogo. Due to its natural and earthy sound, it can also be heard in capoeira, where it's known as agogô de feijão. It's also a nice addition to any multi-percussion or drum kit set-up.
Comes with a free short stick called a cotoco. It's the ideal length for this instrument. If you also play caixa em cima, you can use this stick in your less dominant hand.
Handmade in Copacabana, Rio, by our good friend and world-class instrument maker Marcos China.
