Amazing tone, great rim shots with extremely durable hardware and clean finish.
A caixa that's a must for any bateria.
Also known as caixa de guerra, this samba snare drum is always tuned very high to produce a short, cutting tone. This drum drives the rest of the bateria. A workhorse of an instrument, and the most common in terms of the number of players of it in any bateria. In a group of 280, you can easily find 90 players.
This robust drum is made from a toughened aluminium shell and hardware. It's built for sound projection and shortness of tone. It is always played with the wires or strings facing towards the player.
When held at shoulder height, you play the rhythm called partido alto, when slung at the waist on a strap, there are many patterns from the many samba schools that can be explored. Some are played hand to hand, like that of the Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel samba school. Most patterns are led by the dominant hand playing
a sequence of alternating double and single strokes. The non-dominant hand fills the sixteenth note spaces. Some grooves utilise a buzz stroke after the fourth division of the bar. Although there are others where the buzz can be heard after any of the four subdivisions of the bar.
