All about that bass

This is a very special one off workshop focusing on all things Surdo.

The bateria is the heart of any Samba school and the Surdo is the heart of bateria. The time keeper and giver of low end melody.
Understanding how this great instrument works and how you can use it to control the swing and tempo of the bateria is essential for any surdo player.

There are many styles of playing Surdo whether it's slung on a strap and being played in a Samba School parade or if it's on a stand being played in a roda de samba.

The day will be spent learning many aspects of the instrument in order to gain a complete knowledge of the instrument.

Time will be spent on thesel elements -
Patterns for different Samba school and Blocos.
How to parade with the drum, tuning, group playing, musical arrangements, solo phrases. to choose the right Surdo for the right occasion, what type of heads to use, plus questions from participants.

We would ideally like everyone with these width of surdo.
